This year’s World Wings Convention is packed with fun and camaraderie! The fabulous Alaska cruise is one of those “can’t miss” experiences. If you’ve never been on an Alaska cruise, or even if you have, this cruise is a must-do.
On the evening prior to the cruise, September 4th, the Pan Am Museum will hold its annual gala at the Renaissance Hotel in Seattle. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to mix and mingle during the cocktail hour, wine and dine during dinner, learn and yearn as speakers talk about Pan Am’s glorious past, and prance and dance as we celebrate the World Wings and PA Museum integration. This event is open to PA Museum members, WWI members, and Pan Am afficionados. We will post details about registering for the gala (which is separate from the cruise registration) in late October or early November.
We will also offer a variety of tours on the two days prior to cruise departure (September 3rd and 4th). We will post details about these tours, and how to sign up, when they are finalized.
Registration is limited to active members of World Wings, their guests, and to former Pan Am employees and their guests.
World Wings Members: On the registration form, include your chapter or MAL affiliation and your guest information if they are NOT a former PAA flight attendant. If you are sharing your cabin with a former PAA flight attendant, they must be an active member of WWI and must register separately.
Former PAA Employees: On the registration form, enter “Former PAA Employee” on the WWI Chapter line, and include your department and any other pertinent information.
- Day 1: When you step aboard in Seattle, gifts will be waiting in your cabin, but don’t take too long getting settled – you’ll want to watch the sailing out of Seattle, then on to the private Welcome Cocktail Party before dinner.
- Day 2: Surrounded by mountains and forests, the beautiful waters of the Salish Sea take you through to the Pacific Ocean and northward. You’ll also be surrounded by Pan Am friends during the World Wings International Annual Meeting.
- Day 3: The village of Ketchikan, home of the Tlingit People, totems, contemporary art galleries, and small shops. There’s time for a stroll along Creek Street which was built right on top of a creek because the activities on that street were illegal on land. There are also several interesting museums in the town and the newest one is at the Visitor Center only a block from our pier.
- Day 4: Cruising Endicott Arm fjord where the half-mile wide Dawes Glacier is known to display frequent, spectacular calving of icebergs. The afternoon brings you to Juneau: Don’t miss the Red Dog Saloon or the Mendenhall Glacier. Gaze at the high, tight mountains around you and think of the Pan Am 707 daily swooping down between them to land on the small strip built on the bay waters at the end of town.
- Day 5: Then on to Skagway, the old gold rush town: the Yukon and Southern vintage train tour through the mountains to Canada is a popular tour choice here.
- Day 6: The ship winds past the fjords and twists of the breathtaking Inside Passage! This alone makes the cruise worthwhile but save time in your day for another private World Wings cocktail party.
- Day 7: Victoria, the most British city in Canada and oldest city in the whole Pacific Northwest, lovely town for walking or perhaps the illuminated evening tour of the famous Butchart Gardens.
- Day 8: Seattle: in early morning we disembark for the return home or remain for new adventures in the Emerald City. If you are leaving the same day but have a few hours to spare, there are tours that pick up at the dock, tour the city or surrounding areas and drop off at the airport.
First, download the Celebrity Cruises Mobile App to your phone if you have not already done so. Online check-in is available several weeks ahead of departure. We recommend that you complete the online check-in process at least a week before departure (online check-in closes 3 days prior to departure). Online check-in greatly expedites your check-in at the port.
While you can print baggage tags for your luggage at the port, printing them ahead of time will save you time and aggravation. Put your tags on your bags as you get ready to ride to the port. (If flying into Seattle, do NOT attach them until you have collected your bags on arrival at SEA.)
Check-In and Boarding for a cruise are considerably different than checking in for a flight. One of the most important factors is that last-minute boarding is simply not allowed. You will be assigned a specific check-in time. We strongly recommend that you present yourself at the cruise terminal early enough to check-in at your assigned time on the day of departure, September 05. Check-in will end at about 2:00 pm and the ship departs at 4:00 pm. BOARDING ENDS 90 MINUTES TO TWO HOURS PRIOR ACTUAL DEPARTURE AND IS NOT NEGOTIABLE. PLEASE DON’T MISS THE BOAT! The following link has tons of important information that you will need to know about check-in and boarding. Please read it carefully!
