2018 CARE National Conference

May 21, 2018 - May 23, 2018

The 2018 CARE National Conference will be held May 21-23, 2018 at George Washington University in Washington, DC. CARE is offering a complimentary registration to World Wings members who would like to attend. Please contact one of your World Wings International board members (or use the Contact Us link on the website) for a special code which you can use during registration.

The following letter from Ayla Zamangil, CARE’s Director of Development, Southeast US Region, explains the purpose and agenda of the conference:

“On behalf of CARE, I am delighted to invite you to be our guest at the 16th annual CARE National Conference, May 21st – 23rd, in Washington, D.C. Each year, CARE advocates and supporters from around the country convene in Washington, D.C. for three packed and purposeful days. We start with a two-day deep dive into CARE’s advocacy work, the U.S. policies that affect women and girls around the world, and the best tools for advocating with your local representatives. On day three, we move from learning to action and meet with Members of Congress to discuss the impact that policies here at home have on the people we work alongside around the world. It is an incredible three-day experience and I hope you will consider joining us– your voice is needed!

At last year’s CARE National Conference, we focused our advocacy efforts on protecting the foreign assistance budget. In those three days we laid important groundwork with Members of Congress that CARE’s advocates and staff pushed forward throughout the rest of the year. Because of the work done at the CARE National Conference by advocates and supporters like you, CARE was able to play an integral role in protecting the foreign assistance budget and getting it passed, largely intact, in the FY18 federal budget.

This is a huge achievement for all of us, but most importantly, for the people CARE works with day in and day out. Those funds change lives and we are proud to have been a leader in the conversation to ensure that the U.S. will continue to respond to humanitarian emergencies, tackle food insecurity, and ensure that women and girls have access to reproductive healthcare, among many other critical programs.

I look forward to learning and advocating with you this year at the CARE National Conference. Together, we’ll tackle issues that range from gender based violence to the farm bill to ensuring that all women have access to healthcare. If you have any questions, want to register for conference and/or the VIP events, please reach out at your convenience.”
