World Wings members and guests explored the fascinating ship, “the Oasis of the Seas,” just as we explored cities worldwide. It wasn’t long before favorite hangouts were identified, such as the adults-only Solarium sun deck with its pools and spas. In fact, our Welcome Reception was held in the Solarium at the bow and high above the sea, under sparkling stars with balmy Caribbean breezes caressing everyone as partiers rejoiced in seeing one another.

Halloween brought out the inner child in us with costumes that flaunted imagination. Laverne and Shirley greeted flappers, pirates, ghosts of pilots past, and even Queen Elizabeth, while the fabulous band played dance hits creating an amazing “spirit.” It was better than smashing pumpkins any day!

Bathing beauties headed off for a day on the Nassau beaches as others relaxed on board by one of the many pools. Ruins were visited in Mexico, bargains sought out in quaint towns, “crews” found margaritas, or simply surveyed the locality.

One morning, we all watched the movie “Neerja” in the ship’s theatre, met some of her family members, and cried as we grasped her heroism. Some of us saw “Cats”, comedians, and even an ice show featuring former Olympians. Boredom was clearly not a passenger!

Most of all, we gathered to recall “the good old days”, reunite with friends and make new ones, dance in our choice of clubs, and enjoy our meals together. After all, spending time with each other is what it’s all about, whether in the galley of a 747 or on an “Oasis” sailing the sea.
