Manhattan Spring Luncheon 2022

With great joy and delight, the much delayed 47th Annual Manhattan Chapter Spring Luncheon was held Thursday on the terrace at Tavern On The Green in New York’s Central Park. 104 World Wingers and guests reveled in each other’s company at our first Spring Luncheon in three years. Smiles and laughter abounded!

Our surprise special guest was Eric Barsness, Executive Vice President of our chapter charity Puppies Behind Bars (PBB). Much to everyone’s delight, Eric was accompanied by PBB service-dog-in-training Stormy who was the recipient of many hugs and snuggles! Eric addressed our group sharing updates on PBB. Those present donated generously in support of PBB. Those at home have the opportunity to donate by means of our current chapter donation drive and we hope you will!

After so many years apart, it was hard to say goodbye again. Our Pan Am connection runs deep, we share a lasting bond. We’re so thankful that Pan Am brought us together and World Wings keeps us together!

Manhattan Holiday Party 2019

The Manhattan chapter’s Annual Holiday Luncheon on December 5th was a happy time as is evidenced by the smiles in these photos.

It was a successful event as well, raising $1700 for our chapter’s charities thanks to everyone’s participation!

Manhattan Chapter Cathedral Tour October 23, 2019

On Wednesday, 28 Manhattan Chapter members undertook a fascinating tour of the Cathedral of St John the Devine. The scope of this magnificent structure was brought to life for us by our knowledgeable tour guide. More than 100 years old, the cathedral is considered unfinished and is still a work in progress. To wit, in this video you will see a master stone carver working on the front facade.

You will also see the high alter under scaffolding while repairs are being made due to a recent fire. This necessitated the cathedral’s nave being emptied of all seating which provides an even better concept of the immensity of the cathedral. It is awe inspiring.

You will also see a tribute to the victims of TWA Flight 800, three small engraved plaques above an engraving on the wall.

Following our tour we enjoyed a late lunch at the nearby brasserie, Restaurant Le Monde, where laughs were enjoyed by all.

Manhattan Whale Watch 2018

A small group of World Wingers and guests headed out into New York area waters on August 1st for a Whale Watch and Dolphin Adventure. And an adventure it was! Whales have been seen on more than 90% of these cruises this summer. They were seen the day before and the day after we cruised but none made an appearance for us on Wednesday unfortunately. None of us minded, we had a wonderful day on the water!

Kudos to the ship’s captain who covered every possible area where whales have been seen this summer, even extending our trip in order to search more. We highly recommend this trip and this particular cruise company, they did a great job! www.americanprincesscruises.com. We liked it so much we discussed going again!

Afterward we progressed to a nearby lobster house where we enjoyed a seafood dinner and much laughter. We had a swell day, wish all of you could have enjoyed it with us!
