Maritimes Convention Cruise

The 2022 Maritimes Cruise was set to sail from Boston on October 3rd and return on the 15th. On the evening before departure, World Wings members and their guests found their way to the traditional pre-cruise gathering at the Omni Hotel in Boston’s Seaport. Friends waved at one another and, over a cocktail or two, renewed old friendships.

Once on board the Celebrity Summit, the festivities began with an evening cocktail party in the Sky Lounge. The following morning, members met for the WWI Annual Meeting. With business attended to, guests were invited in to learn about research at the Richter Library at the University of Miami. Dian Groh and Edie Staninhoa talked about the treasures they had discovered while digging through decades-old photos and papers. Becky Sprecher’s eagerly anticipated presentation, Canada and the Dreamboats: Pan Am’s Boeing 314 Crosses the Atlantic, appealed to the crowd of history-loving Pan Amers, and news of upcoming land conventions thrilled the crowd.

The ship visited Portland, Maine; Bar Harbor, Maine; Halifax, Nova Scotia; Quebec City; and Sydney, Nova Scotia, with our Pan Am group enjoying the various excursions that were offered on each visit. On sea days, the Scavenger Hunt, varied dining options, cocktail parties, and other activities kept everyone busy and entertained. On the final night of the cruise, the farewell cocktail party offered everyone a chance to mingle with friends and cement promises of meeting again in 2023.
