Commodore Cruise Around the Bay

Suzy Proescher hosted a Commodore Cruise on Wed. August 14, 2019. Thank you, thank you, thank you Suzy!!! We had a great time aboard the Commodore!!!!! The group voted to adopt the new International by-laws permitting officers to serve longer terms; Sally Andersen and Marilyn Kaplan will vote accordingly in Stockholm. We raised about $250 for our charities.

Kimono Refashioned at the Asian Art Museum

On April 5, 2019, Linda Rineck treated the Oakland East Bay ladies to a docent tour of the Kimono Refashioned Exhibit at the San Francisco Asian Art Museum. Marilyn Kaplan organized the trip.

October 28 - 30, Annual Convention, San Diego

The San Diego World Wings Convention at the Omni Hotel was wonderful. Attendees included: Louise Diracles/Kramer, Klabau, Liv Milan, Sally Andersen/Lorin, Laurie Barton, Janet Bisbing, Norma Corbin and Peter, Linda Duffey (Kelly,) Pam Feack, Pam Gilberd/Fred, Kay Gilson, Lucy Hart, Marianne Greene Kallstrom, Netty Kilgour, Genie Pratt, Linda Rineck, Anne Tompkins, Liz Turlington and Sonya Vukasin, Jennie and Howard Young.

At the International Charity Drawing: two of our members won small prizes. The Midway aircraft carrier night was magical with a marching band and “The Andrews Sisters” singing in uniform. The Golden Gala featured a
champagne reception, surf and turf, a live band, and love letters from Juan Trippe and wife read by his son Ed Trippe and his wife.

September 27, 2018 ~ Visit to Discovery Bay

Suzy Proescher hosted the Oakland chapter with lunch and a houseboat cruise around Discovery Bay. Add in the mimosas, a little dancing, and a fabulous singer, and we had the perfect recipe for a perfect day!

Linda Rineck hosted tours of the Asian Art Museum Great Works and the Divine Bodies Special Exhibit on 7/3/18, raising $165 for our charities.

Hetta Malone arranged a lunch at The Norseman Restaurant at the Diablo Valley College Culinary Institute, where we had pork dumplings, Asian root salads, steak or salmon, veggies and rice and a mango kiwi dessert.

A Friendly Manor Thank You

The efforts and contributions of the Oakland Chapter bring much needed help to at-risk women.

2018 Overnight at West Point Inn

In an adventure arranged by Netty Kilgour, eight members enjoyed a fabulous overnight stay on 4/24/18 at the rustic West Point Inn on Mt. Tam, with commanding views of the Bay Area.

2017 Hope Hospice

World Wings members from our Oakland Chapter visited Hope Hospice with bags overflowing with new stuffed bears and other cuddly animals. For over a decade, the chapter has contributed the fluffy animals for the hospice staff to distribute to patients.

2017 Holiday Party

The Oakland Chapter held its annual holiday party on December 11th at the home of Else and Joair Welsh. We raised $1071 for our charities with our drawing, auction, donations to A Friendly Manor ($250), and Marc Kaplan’s books Chasing Klondike Dreams ($135).
